About This Assembly
RG316DS Cable
RG-316DS is a double-shielded version of RG-316, featuring two braid layers over the PTFE dielectric for superior EMI isolation. This construction reduces signal leakage and interference pickup, making it essential in sensitive receiver chains, spectrum analyzers, and high-density RF wiring where crosstalk must be minimized.
N Connector
Type N is a threaded RF connector rated from DC to 18 GHz with a durable weatherproof design, making it the preferred interface for outdoor antenna installations, cellular base stations, and commercial wireless infrastructure. Its larger size compared to SMA allows higher power handling and the threaded coupling resists vibration, making it suitable for mobile and fixed outdoor applications.
RP-TNC Connector
RP-TNC (Reverse Polarity TNC) uses the TNC threaded shell with reversed pin conventions, similar to RP-SMA. It is used on some commercial WiFi access points and outdoor CPE antennas, particularly in older Cisco and Linksys equipment, and offers better vibration resistance than RP-SMA in demanding outdoor environments.
Common Applications
This N and RP-TNC cable assembly is well suited for sensitive receiver chains, spectrum analyzer inputs, and high-EMI environments. The combination of reliable N and RP-TNC connectors and custom-cut cable length makes it a practical choice for both field installations and bench setups. Every assembly is hand-terminated, continuity tested, and ships free within the USA.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this cable hand-assembled in the USA?
Yes. Every CoaxRF cable assembly is hand-terminated and continuity tested at our US facility before shipping. We do not drop-ship pre-made cables from overseas — each cable is built to order.
Can I order a different length than 100 ft?
Yes. This page is for the 100 ft assembly. Use the length buttons above to select a different standard length, or use the Cable Builder for any custom length.
How much signal loss will I see with this 100 ft cable?
At 1800 MHz, RG316DS loses approximately 26 dB per 100 ft. This 100 ft assembly will have roughly 26 dB of insertion loss at that frequency. See the signal loss table for all frequency points.
What is the maximum frequency for this assembly?
This assembly is rated DC – 6 GHz. The effective frequency limit is set by the lowest-rated component — either the cable or one of the connectors. Both N MALE and RP-TNC MALE connectors must be within spec at your target frequency.
What is your return policy?
We accept returns within 30 days of delivery. Custom-length cables are accepted as long as they are in original condition. Contact us and we will provide a prepaid return label at no charge.
